Our class was instructed to create a "one word film," in which we would create a 60-90 second film conveying an emotion described using one word, hence the project title.
My partner and I were given the word "threatening," which we aimed to express through the power dynamic of bullying. We began to outline our project, using a brainstorming sheet to provide us with a sense of direction.
As shots can only be communicated to such an extent through words, we eventually opted to use a storyboard as a form of visualization. The storyboard effectively allowed us to plan the angles, shots, and compositions we intended to orchestrate in our filming process.
Once we got footage for our film, we used Adobe Premiere Pro to edit our footage. As I was not completely familiar with the software, there was a slight learning curve to the editing process.
This was my first attempt in executing the filming process. While I believe we successfully conveyed the emotion provided, I could have better utilized movement techniques to better express the word "threatening." Additionally, I was unprepared for how long the shooting process would actually take, as each shot required multiple takes and ample time setting up the frame.
