Our first step was researching famous bands / labels and their strategies used in building / spreading their brand - I specifically analyzed the band TOOL. Tool, an experimental rock band known for their unique sound, has built a dedicated fanbase. TOOL's branding hopes to captivate their audience with primarily their music rather than the showmanship and personalities of the individual band members.
After researching bands, our group began outlining our approach to the project. To tackle the assignment more effectively, we divided the work into four. I was tasked with developing the marketing and distribution campaign, particularly in online and physical distributing. Our band, titled Resistance, intends to target a younger audience using short-term content on social media; this includes YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and Instagram Reels.
In the coming week, our team plans to record a music video (of which we already storyboarded) that helps establish our brand as we build our audience.
